Palazzo Scanderbeg History

George Castriot (1405-1468), known as Scanderbeg was an Albanian nobleman, skilled general and diplomat. He is considered instrumental in building an alliance against Ottoman expansion and defeating Ottoman attacks. He is Albania’s greatest national hero and his deeds inspired Vivaldi who directed Scanderbeg the opera in 1718.

Palazzo Scanderbeg dates from the 15th century and was Scanderbeg’s residence in Rome. The Palazzo was significantly refurbished in 1843 and has undergone various uses over the centuries. Situated in the heart of the City of Rome, Palazzo Scanderbeg has now been restored and transformed into luxury Townhouse and Suites.
